The proposal was sent to the Railway Ministry. After getting the approval, work on the new platform started at a cost of Rs 32 crore. Increasing the width of platforms 4 and 5 will make it easier for passengers to get off and on. They can also be protected from sun and rain by installing shelters on the platform. The construction work of platform number 6 is going on in full swing at the city station.
Construction of platform number 6 is in full swing at City Station. It will start in the year 2026. For this, walls of railway quarters and bungalows along with workshops are being demolished. Electrical substations and diesel pipelines are being shifted elsewhere. Lift-escalator, food court and other facilities will be provided on the new platform number 6. There will also be work to increase the length of platforms 4 and 5. The length of both the platforms will be 580 meters and width will be 10 meters. After both the works are completed, trains will not have to wait for the platform to be empty.
