Local MLA protests against arrest of BJP state president in West Bengal

Kolkata, 20 November (IANS). West Bengal BJP President and Union Minister Sukant Majumdar was detained by the West Bengal Police on Wednesday while going to violence-hit Beldanga. He was going to Beldanga in Murshidabad. The police stopped him on the national highway and detained him. Citing prohibitory orders in force in the area, police said the BJP leader’s visit could disturb peace. Party MLA from Siliguri Shankar Ghosh called it a well-thought-out strategy of the state government.

Speaking to IANS, Shankar Ghosh said, “It is absolutely natural that this government does not allow anyone to oppose those who are in the opposition. Sukanta Majumdar is trying to fulfill his responsibility as a minister or state president. Therefore, they are trying to reach out to the people of Beldanga so that it does not get exposed further.

He said, “This is absolutely normal in West Bengal, but I want to say that this will not last for long. People are very excited to oust this government from West Bengal, and we are optimistic that we will get all the reforms in West Bengal.” Will be successful in uniting the opposition forces.”

Let us tell you that there was a clash between two communities in Beldanga of the state on Saturday over an objectionable message posted on the temporary gate built for Kartik Puja. After this, a large number of police had reached Krishna Nagar in the district to stop the convoy of the BJP MP, after which the MP staged a protest.
