Water and insurance are our biggest demands
District President of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh Ratan Singh Kaniwada said – Water and insurance are our biggest demands. Jalore should have full rights over the water of Jawai River. In terms of water, Jalore district is now in a worse situation than the Dark Zone. Due to over-exploitation, the environmental balance here has deteriorated. The quality of groundwater has deteriorated so much that it is not even fit for drinking. Even the growth of trees and plants is being rapidly affected. If this continues like this, after some time Jalore district will become completely barren. Our demand is regarding the natural flow of Jawai river. From all the dams on the Jawai River, of which Jawai Dam is the largest, water should be released into the Jawai River throughout the year and the natural flow of the river should be maintained. It should be decided that water from all the dams should be released into the river. Apart from Jawai Dam, 10-15 anicuts have also been built on the river which do not even have gates. Here water is flying out of the anicut due to evaporation. That water should also be released into the river by leaving a gap. The normal flow of the river should not stop. There should be a system to stop water on the dam only in case of excessive rainfall.
Second demand: The pending crop insurance should be settled.
He said- Our second demand is regarding insurance claim. Crop insurance applications of farmers and appeals of Patwar Mandals are pending in Jaipur office. This is an insurance worth about 125 crore rupees, which should be given to the farmers on time. The government should take concrete action on this. Ratansingh Kaniwada said- Farmers of Jalore district have been protesting every year for 31 years demanding to allocate a part of Jalore on the water of Jawai Dam. Various farmer organizations of the district, including the Bharatiya Kisan Union, are on a protest on Tuesday with this demand. The protest will continue until the demands are met. Complete arrangements for food and drinks for the Mahapadav are being made by the local farmer organizations.
