Maharashtra assembly election results are surprising: Abu Azmi

Mumbai, November 25 (IANS). Maharashtra Samajwadi Party state president Abu Azmi spoke to IANS on Monday regarding the results of the assembly elections.

Abu Azmi said that my heart and mind are surprised as to how there is such a huge difference in the results. Sharad Pawar is a big leader. It is Uddhav Thackeray’s party, Congress was emerging as a big party. But then the results changed so suddenly.

He further said that BJP ran many schemes like Ladli Behan Yojana, due to which the public felt that they should vote for them. I don’t think there can be any other reason other than this.

Slogans like if you divide, you will be cut, if you remain united, you will be safe were raised from the BJP side. On this Abu Azmi said that these slogans are useless. Even if someone wins an election by polarizing in the name of religion, it is not a good victory.

Regarding the Chief Minister face dispute, he said that this is a mutual matter of Mahayuti. However, the CM should be of the party which is largest. It doesn’t matter to us whether Devendra Fadnavis, Eknath Shinde or Ajit Pawar becomes the Chief Minister. We have relations with all three leaders. He will be requested to stop the distribution work.

The SP leader said that even if the EVM is not hacked and it only comes under suspicion, it should still be stopped. Elections should be conducted on ballot paper. We also demand that elections should be conducted through ballot paper.
