Making farmers aware not to burn stubble: Rajesh Sihag

Fatehabad, 13 November (IANS). So far 101 cases of stubble burning have been reported in Fatehabad, Haryana. In this regard, the Agriculture Department has registered a case against 49 farmers and started action.

The Agriculture Department has included 54 farmers in red entry due to stubble burning. Now these farmers will not be able to sell their crops at MSP in the coming two crop seasons.

The Agriculture Department has claimed that this time 75 percent less stubble has been burnt compared to last year. Last time till today, 399 cases of stubble burning were reported. But, this time 101 cases of stubble burning have been reported. Farmers are constantly being made aware not to burn stubble. Positive results have also been seen on a large scale in this direction.

Fatehabad Agriculture Department official Dr. Rajesh Sihag said that till now 101 cases of stubble burning have come to light in Fatehabad district, taking action on which the Agriculture Department has lodged an FIR against 49 farmers.

Rajesh Sihag said that people are being continuously made aware at the village level and the duty of police station in-charges has also been specially imposed so that stubble cannot be burnt.

He said, “We have formed many teams regarding stubble. Our entire team is patrolling and marking all those farmers who are seen burning stubble. We have ensured that strict action will be taken against farmers who burn stubble. But, this time a large number of farmers have come forward who have decided not to burn stubble this time.”
