New Delhi, November 25 (IANS). The country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has achieved a new record of exporting 30 lakh vehicles since starting operations in India.
The company issued a statement on Monday saying the 30 lakhth historic vehicle was part of a consignment of 1,053 units that departed from Pipavav port in Gujarat on Sunday, which included models like Celerio, FrontX, Jimny, Baleno, Ciaz, Dezire and S-Presso. .
Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO, Maruti Suzuki, said, “Our exports from India have grown 3 times compared to 4 years ago. Maruti Suzuki plans to diversify vehicle exports and further grow it to 7.5 lakh units by 2030-31. The target has been set.”
Maruti Suzuki started exporting vehicles from India in 1986. The first major shipment of 500 cars was shipped to Hungary in September 1987. The company had achieved the first milestone of exporting 10 lakh vehicles in the financial year 2012-13. After this, in the financial year 2020-21, in less than 9 years, the export figure of next 10 lakh units was touched.
The company has touched the export figure of next 10 lakh units i.e. 20 lakh to 30 lakh units in just 3 years and 9 months.
Takeuchi said, “The cumulative exports of 30 lakh units reflects India’s automobile manufacturing excellence and is a shining example of Brand India on the global stage. We look forward to implementing encouraging policies and trade agreements with certain markets to enhance export growth.” We thank the Government of India for this.”
He further said, “By associating with the Government of India’s flagship ‘Make in India’ initiative, Maruti Suzuki is committed to increasing localization and exports. Currently, 40 percent of the passenger vehicles exported from India are from Maruti Suzuki, which Making us the number one vehicle exporter in the country.”
Maruti Suzuki exported 1,81,444 units in the April-October period in the financial year 2024-25, which is 17.4 percent more than the same period last year. Currently the company exports 100 models to nearly 17 countries. The Americas, Africa, Asia and the Middle East are important export markets for the company.
