Massive fire breaks out in Jhansi Medical College, 10 children die

Jhansi, 16 November (IANS). A massive fire broke out at Maharani Lakshmibai Medical College in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh on Friday night. There is news of death of 10 children in the incident.

According to the information, the fire broke out in the SNCU (infant ward) of the college at 8.30 pm. It is being told that 10 children have died and many are injured. So far 40 children have been saved.

Six fire brigade vehicles have reached the spot and a police team is present. Top administrative officials have also reached there. The cause of the fire has not been known.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased children. He has instructed the district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them proper treatment. Along with this, he also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

He has asked the Commissioner and DIG to investigate the accident and submit the report within 12 hours.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Principal Secretary of the Health Department have left for the spot.
