Pratapgarh News Desk: On Monday afternoon, unknown people vandalized the statue of Mataji in Velocity area of Pratapgarh city. On receiving information about the incident, a large number of people from Hindu organizations gathered at the spot. Demanded strict action against the accused who destroyed the statue. Police reached the spot and brought the situation under control and calmed the atmosphere by installing a new statue. The statue of Bholenath was installed about two years ago on the platform located at the entrance of the Velocity area. For the last one month, construction work was going on at this place, in which the statue of Mataji was installed. This statue was vandalized by unknown people on Monday afternoon. After this, local residents, especially people from Mahila Mandal and Hindu organizations gathered and expressed their anger and started demanding action against the accused.
Got a new statue installed: To calm the dispute on the spot, the police got a new statue installed with the consent of the local people. This calmed the people down, but still the police is continuously monitoring the area to maintain peace. Police have started interrogating some suspects in this case. However, no one has been arrested yet. Police say that soon the culprits involved in the incident will be caught. The police and administration have appealed to the local residents to maintain peace and avoid any kind of rumours. The police assured that the matter will be investigated seriously and every possible effort will be made to punish the accused as per law. Considering the seriousness of the matter, district administration officials have also taken stock of the spot.
Mahila Mandal member Kanta Devi told that construction work was going on at this place for the last one month after the installation of Mataji’s statue. They allege that the land mafia deliberately demolished the statue to make way for it. According to Kanta Devi, the land mafia is pressurizing them to build a road in the area and that is why this incident happened. Officials of Hindu organizations also made the same allegation and said that this incident could be a part of some bigger conspiracy. He demanded that strict action should be taken against the land mafia. As soon as the information was received, Kotwali police station reached the spot and counseled the people. Police assured the local people that the matter is being investigated and the culprits will be caught soon.
