Mayawati’s statement on Rajasthan High Court’s decision goes viral, demands this from BJP government

Jaipur : Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati has demanded the Bhajanlal government of Rajasthan to file an appeal in the Supreme Court. On Saturday afternoon he wrote on Twitter, ‘Rajasthan High Court has removed 4 words from the category of caste indicator. Now the section of SC/ST Act will not be applicable against people who call themselves Bhangi, Neech, Beggar and Mangni. This decision may increase the morale of casteist and anti-social elements. The state government should take this seriously and go for further appeal. This is the demand of BSP.

‘Incidents against Dalits are increasing’

Mayawati further wrote, ‘In many states of the country, far from giving Dalits and tribals their legal rights, incidents of casteist hatred and atrocities against them are continuing. Whether it is the government of BJP, Congress or any other opposition party, it is necessary to show proper sensitivity towards it.

What decision did Rajasthan High Court give?

Rajasthan High Court has given this decision in a case related to the argument with the department personnel during the action of removing encroachment. During the hearing, the bench of Justice Birendra Kumar has removed the sections of SC-ST Act against the four accused who used these words. The appellants said that they were not aware of the caste of the victim. It was argued that there was no evidence that the incident took place in public, the witness being only the prosecution. After this, the court said, ‘These words are not caste related, nor is there any allegation that the four accused know about the caste of the victim. After investigation, the police did not find the allegation to be true either.
