New Delhi, December 5 (IANS). The meeting of the Joint Committee of Parliament on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 will be held on Thursday at 3 pm. In this meeting, officials of the Minority Ministry have also been called to present their side.
Last week, Jagdambika Pal had approved the proposal to extend the tenure of the Lok Sabha committee.
Before the beginning of the winter session of the Lok Sabha, Congress and other opposition parties had raised the issue of extending the tenure of the Lok Sabha committee.
Earlier, a JPC meeting was called on November 4 to discuss the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024.
Sharing the information, JPC chairperson Jagdambika Pal had said, “When the proposal for the Joint Parliamentary Committee was brought by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, he said that he wanted to send it to the JPC so that we can get as many stakeholders, intellectuals, We can call Islamic scholars, former judges, Supreme Court and High Court lawyers, minority organizations and discuss.”
During the JPC meeting held on October 22, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee had broken a glass bottle kept on the table. Kalyan Banerjee was also injured due to this. Not only this, he threw the glass pieces towards the chairman. On the same day, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee was suspended from the JPC meeting for one session (one day) on the basis of majority in the JPC meeting.
