Jaipur News Desk: The issue of making candidates remove sacred thread during CET exam is gaining momentum in Rajasthan. Now independent MLA Yunus Khan also stood against the removal of sacred thread at the time of examination. He wrote a letter to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma regarding this issue and said that he is deeply hurt by this anti-religious incident. This incident has happened when the state has a personality-rich Chief Minister like you, who must be familiar with the essentiality of the sacred thread and its Vedic and mythological importance.
‘Protectors of religion maintained silence’
Independent MLA Yunus Khan wrote in the letter that Haren Dave, a candidate who had come from Banswara to Jaipur to appear in the CET graduate examination held on 28 September 2024, was made to take down the sacred thread in the name of investigation in the examination centre. I am deeply hurt by this incident that happened at Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Tonk Phatak, Jaipur. He further wrote that such incidents are happening continuously in the state and the so-called protectors of religion have maintained silence.
Demanded action from CM Bhajanlal
Yunus Khan, while mentioning in the letter what Manu Jaimani and Kumaril Bhatt had said regarding Yajnopavit, asked the Chief Minister to take immediate cognizance of the matter. Along with this, the independent MLA demanded immediate action against the culprits. Actually, Haren Dave, a resident of Banswara, had come to Jaipur on 27th September to appear for CET exam. Its exam center was in Mahatma Gandhi School near Tonk Gate, Jaipur.
Had to take the exam by removing the sacred thread
When Haren reached the center at 3 pm, during checking, the police asked him to take off the sacred thread. When he refused to take off the sacred thread, the matter reached the school principal. On this the school principal also asked her to remove her sacred thread. After this, candidate Haren insisted on giving it in writing and the dispute continued for a long time. Later the candidate had to take off the sacred thread and take the exam.
