Jodhpur : Due to the negligence of the Municipal Corporation, an open drain took the life of a student in the very first rain. A student died on Thursday evening after falling into an open drain on Airport Road in front of the Officers’ Mess. He was preparing for competitive exams and as soon as his family came to know about his death, they were drowned in grief. The District Collector who reached the spot had to face heavy opposition from the people of the area. According to the Airport Police Station, Tagaram Meghwal, a resident of Shergarh, lived in a rented room with his brother on Airport Road here. After the rain stopped in the evening, he came out of the room to get his luggage and started walking. Meanwhile, he started passing near an open drain on the roadside. He could not find the drain due to the water filled and he fell into the drain. While drowning, he took out both his hands and started waving in the air to save himself.
He was also holding a mobile phone in his hand. When people around saw him waving his hands, they suspected that the youth might have drowned. They ran towards the drain to rescue him. Some youths jumped into the water to save him, but by then he had gone into deep water. Municipal corporation employees also came there and threw a rope and pulled out the unconscious youth. With the help of 108 ambulance, he was taken to Mathuradas Mathur Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The body has been kept in the mortuary.
I had a dream of joining the army and police
The deceased Tagaram had completed his BA. He was preparing for competitive exams. He wanted to join the army or police. His brother also lives in the room. On learning about the incident, the brother rushed to the hospital, where he was shocked to see his brother dead. He burst into tears.
