More than 36 lakh rupees were collected in the name of student union in Rajasthan University in 2 years

Jaipur : In the name of student union elections, one-time student union and membership fees are charged from the students taking admission in Rajasthan University every session. Even after paying the fee to about 14,000 students taking admission in the university in two years, there is confusion whether student union elections will be held or not. The reason is that the government has not yet clarified the situation regarding the student union elections. Here, protests are being held by the students in all the universities of the state demanding elections. After separate demonstrations in Rajasthan University, a collective demonstration will be held by all the student leaders on Thursday. Student union elections have been held in Rajasthan in the month of August. Every year, after the completion of the admission process, the program of student union elections was released. Earlier, student union elections were held in the year 2022. Last year, the Congress government had banned the student union elections citing the implementation of the new education policy. It was heavily opposed by the students.

The budget is used for many items including election expenses

According to student leader Shubham Rewad, more than 25 thousand students participate in student union elections in Rajasthan University. Rewad says that in the prospectus, Rs 145 is being charged in the name of student union elections and Rs 110 as membership fee, i.e. a total of Rs 255 is being charged per student as one-time fee. Every year, about seven thousand students take admission in UG and PG courses in the university, i.e., in two years, 14 thousand students have paid Rs 255 as one-time fee. This means that more than Rs 35.5 lakh has been charged from them in the name of student union elections. The university and DSW (Dean Student Welfare) make preparations for the elections from this budget.

A letter campaign was launched, the demand had been raised in the assembly

A campaign has been launched by student leaders to get all the MLAs to write letters to the Chief Minister. Congress MLAs along with BJP are demanding this from the government. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also demanded student union elections. Apart from this, 18 former student union presidents of Rajasthan University have also demanded elections.
