More than 40 business establishments seized before Diwali, ADA action creates panic among traders

Ajmer News Desk: Before Diwali, Ajmer Development Authority today took major action against illegal encroachment. In the presence of heavy police presence, Ajmer Development Authority seized more than 40 illegally built shops. This action against illegal encroachment was taken at Chowpatty in front of Regional College, near Seven Wonders of Ajmer. This created panic among the traders. Ajmer Development Authority Deputy Commissioner Bharat Gurjar reached Anasagar Regional College Chowpatty at 6 am. Taking action against the illegal encroachment here, notices were pasted on more than 40 business establishments including restaurants, function venues, liquor vends. During this time, Tehsildar Sunita Chaudhary, Om Singh Lakhawat and additional police force were also present on the spot.

The action lasted for 3 hours

Ajmer Development Authority’s action against illegal construction lasted for about 3 hours. Ajmer Development Authority officials reached the spot at 6 am and pasted notices on more than 40 business establishments by 9 am. During this time the team also had to face opposition from traders. Restaurant operators protested and said why no action was taken against Seven Wonders?

What’s in the notices pasted on shops?

It is written in the notice that under Ajmer Development Authority Act 2013, Section 17, 30,31,32,33,34 read Section 35 A, the authorized officer, in compliance with the order passed on 22 October 2024 by Ajmer Development Authority, Ajmer, without obtaining approval from the authority. Illegal business activities carried out without getting the map approved, without changing the land use and obtaining permission/permission from the competent departments in this regard are seized with immediate effect till further orders.

The businessman narrated his pain

During the action, businessman Arjun Chattwani on the spot expressed his grief and said that the government officials are disobeying the court’s order. He said that in 2000, the decision on appeal was given that the same should be allowed to remain. After the DJ Court, the High Court also gave its verdict. This is disregard for court orders. I also replied to the notice in return. But, officials say that its copy is fake. Finally he said that the registry is from 1980. This is not government land, it is Khatedari land.
