Jaipur : Monsoon is active again in Rajasthan. Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Jaipur since Wednesday night, leaving roads submerged, houses flooded and normal life disrupted. Due to this heavy rainfall, waterlogging has occurred in various parts of the city, due to which people are facing a lot of problems. Especially in Jaipur’s 22 Godown and Civil Lines area, waterlogging has created problems for the people. Most of the schools in the capital have declared holiday on Thursday due to heavy rains. Many big events have also had to be postponed.
5.2 inches of rain at Jaipur airport
The weather centre in Jaipur has informed that 133 mm or 5.2 inches of rain was recorded at Jaipur airport on August 1 at 5:30 am. Intermittent moderate to heavy rain is likely to continue for the next two hours. Let us tell you that with the return of monsoon in Rajasthan, heavy rain has been recorded in many districts including Jaipur and Sikar. Due to continuous rain, low lying areas have been flooded, due to which the traffic system has collapsed. Even the posh areas of Jaipur have been flooded up to one to two feet, due to which it has become difficult for people to leave their homes. A family is trapped due to water filling in the basement of a house in Vishwakarma Industrial Area. The Civil Defence team has been trying to rescue the family for the last three hours.
Ajmer Road and Sikar Road were also filled with water
The strike of sanitation workers in the city has made the situation even worse. Due to the piles of garbage, waterlogging has occurred at many places, causing great trouble to the people. Kartarpura drain is overflowing, while Ajmer Road and Sikar Road are also flooded, posing a danger. Jaipur International Airport is also flooded, causing inconvenience to passengers. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in 9 districts on Thursday. Waterlogging occurred outside Terminal 1 of Jaipur International Airport due to heavy rains on Thursday morning.
School bus and van stuck due to road collapse
In another incident due to rain, a school bus and a van carrying school children got stuck in a road collapse in Jamdoli area of Jaipur. Fortunately, all the children survived the accident safely. A JCB had to be called on the spot to remove the trapped vehicles, but the JCB also got stuck on the road. This created an atmosphere of chaos and the rescue team had to work hard.
