Nagaur : Nagaur In almost one and a half years, more than one lakh children were marked as malnourished in Nagaur (Didwana-Kuchaman) district. Among these, about twenty percent were severely malnourished children. This figure is only for children aged between newborn and five years. From not breastfeeding to illiteracy and ignorance are the major reasons for this. The happy thing is that the death rate of malnourished children is less than one percent. According to sources, despite all the awareness, the disease of malnutrition has not been completely eradicated. Despite the presence of Anganwadi, PHC/CHC and district hospital and nutrition being provided in schools, the number of identified malnourished children is considerable. That is when the government is running so many schemes regarding the health of children. Many departments are handling the responsibility of vaccination, health testing and nutrition along with other care. Even many NGOs (non-governmental organizations) are working in this field on government grants.
Sources reveal that during May 2023 to October 2024, in Nagaur (Didwana-Kuchaman) district, 88 thousand 170 mildly malnourished and 27 thousand 731 severely malnourished were found in Nagaur (Didwana-Kuchaman) district. That means about one lakh 15 thousand children were found sick due to malnutrition. Through various treatments and awareness, most of them soon came out of this and came into the category of completely healthy. The good thing is that out of these, only 70 children died and that too not due to malnutrition and any other disease.
Two and a half thousand recruited in ten years, four percent referred
