Jodhpur, November 13 (IANS). Ravindra Singh Bhati, MLA from Shiv assembly seat of Barmer district of Rajasthan, said on Wednesday regarding the assembly by-elections that more voting is necessary for the strength of democracy.
Talking to the media in Jodhpur, he said that the people have exercised their franchise in the by-elections. Maximum voting is necessary for the strength of democracy. Fair elections with better law and order is the responsibility of all of us.
On the incident of independent candidate Naresh Meena slapping the SDM during voting, he said that it is a matter of investigation. In a democracy, beating someone like this cannot be justified. It is not appropriate to comment at this time on what is the reason behind this entire incident. Maintaining peace during elections should be the priority of all of us.
Congratulating the independent candidates, he said, “Whenever an independent candidate enters the fray, every possible effort is made to suppress him. I congratulate the independent candidates who have contested the elections with full strength.”
Regarding the massacre in Jodhpur, he said that better law and order should be maintained in the state. This entire matter should be investigated and evidence related to it should come to light so that the murder case can be exposed. Due to such incidents, people lose trust in the government. In such a situation, I believe that the police should disclose this matter as soon as possible.
Voting for seven assembly seats in Rajasthan has started this morning amid tight security. A total of 69 candidates are in the fray in this by-election. The results will come on 23 November. At present, BJP has 114 members and Congress 65 members in the 200-member Rajasthan Assembly.
