Sriganganagar : A prisoner lodged in the lock-up of City Police Station of Sriganganagar committed suicide by hanging himself on Thursday. According to the information, the prisoner had hanged himself using the quilt cover. The entire incident is said to have happened at 4 in the morning. The prisoner has been identified as deceased Naresh alias Narsi. Only yesterday the police had arrested him on charges of murder. At present the body of the deceased has been kept in the mortuary.

Sriganganagar SP Gaurav Yadav said that the deceased youth was wanted on charges of murder and he was caught by Suratgarh police yesterday evening itself. Today the police was to present him in the court and seek his remand, but on Thursday morning the young man committed suicide. According to the information, due to cold, the accused youth was given a quilt and this youth removed the cover of the quilt, made a noose of it and committed suicide.

After receiving information about this incident, senior police officials from Sriganganagar have reached the spot. Police forces including ADSP Raghuveer Sharma, Rameshwar Lal, CO Kuldeep Walia, Rajiyasar CI Satish Yadav, Sadar CI Krishna Kumar are present at the spot. Police officials are trying to gather information about the incident from other prisoners in the barrack and from their family members so that the reasons for this incident can be revealed.
