Nagaur : Out of more than 19 thousand secondary education schools of Nagaur state, the post of librarian is sanctioned in only 4,158 schools, that is, even 25 percent of the schools do not have a librarian. Even among those that are approved, only 2270 are employed, while 1888 are running vacant. Maximum 75 percent posts are vacant for Librarian II. More than half the post of Librarian I is also vacant. In such a situation, it can be easily estimated how serious the government and the education department are regarding the operation of libraries in government schools. In a way, the Education Department is only fulfilling the needs of libraries and librarians in government schools. On the other hand, the pile of books in schools is increasing, but there is no one to handle them. Due to lack of maintenance, these books are lying on the shelves and gathering dust.
PMShri’s title, but no staff
The government has given the title of PMShri to hundreds of schools in the state including the district, in which activities have been increased, but neither staff nor resources have been given. The Higher Secondary School located at Rathori Kuan in Nagaur city has been made PMShri, but it does not have the entire class room. There is a library here, but no librarian.
Same condition of Nagaur-Didwana
Like the state, the situation is similar in Nagaur and Didwana-Kuchaman districts. There are a total of 996 schools of secondary education in both the districts, out of which posts of librarians are sanctioned in only 151 and only 82 are working in them, while 69 are vacant. In this also, one post of Librarian I is sanctioned and that one is vacant. There are 47 sanctioned posts of Librarian II, out of which 41 are vacant. 103 posts of Librarian III are sanctioned, out of which 27 are vacant.
