Every common man has the right to air and water at Nagaur : Nagaur Petrol Pump or to meet any government official. What’s more, in case of someone’s death, the dead body can be booked and sent to the destination in the train. People are deprived of many such rights. Perhaps this is the reason why the trend of giving convenience fee/bribe in exchange for free government services has increased. Now people have stopped arguing over small rights. In Nagaur, people here did not even get the right to park their vehicles properly. Now, even if they park their vehicle on the roadside, they face the fear of challan. The vehicle owner also pays road tax, in such a case, if he has to park his vehicle in the market for some work, even then he is considered as violating the rules and is challaned. Now where to park the vehicle, the right to park it is missing.
Dr. Surendra Singh of Mirdha College says that in Nagaur district, many students not only in the villages but also in the cities are not aware of the schemes being provided by the government. In such a situation, they are not able to use the rights they are getting. Many rights/benefits have been given to students in many schemes like scholarship/scholarship, teacher welfare fund, but the reality is that thirty-forty percent remain isolated from it. Questions are also being raised on the right to education from class 1st to 8th because it is completely free in government schools, but in private schools, one-fourth of the children’s fees are paid by the government, but those children are made to bear the expenses including dress and other expenses. Rights are being violated.
Government work for free…
Among all the human rights to life, some rights are either not implemented or have been left out of the system. For example, if you want to get any government work done, register a plot, take a lease or even avail free facilities like electricity, water and health, many times you have to spend money. Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) ASP Kalpana Solanki herself admits this. He says that there is no expenditure on any government work, but nowadays bribes have to be paid for even the smallest work, even for a death certificate.
Many poor people are also deprived of information about their right to legal aid. Lawyers are appointed by the court for legal aid who fight the case of a poor complainant. Despite this, most of the poor are deprived of even the information about this right. In this regard, Advocate Peer Mohammad says that for this a poor complainant only has to apply for legal help in the court. This is his right, five-six lawyers are hired for this.
Fifty percent unknown…
Before Human Rights Day, some people were talked to in this regard but apart from some important rights, they appeared to be unaware. He was able to explain some of the benefits of government schemes but did not say anything about what was not happening in his jurisdiction. Some of them themselves admitted that not only education, health, water, electricity but many other rights are there but now the system has changed. Some said that now who would spoil the peace for small rights, that is why many things are given double or quadrupled amount. Most of them said that daily life should be comfortable as long as they get the same rights.
