New update has come regarding the recruitment of 24 thousand sanitation workers, know

Jaipur : There is good news about government jobs in Rajasthan. State Autonomous Government Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra assured in the Assembly on Friday that the recruitment process will be taken forward soon after examining the High Court’s decision regarding the petitions filed regarding the rules prescribed for the appointment of sanitation workers. He informed that a notification was issued on March 1, 2024 for the recruitment of 24 thousand 797 sanitation workers, for which a total of 9 lakh 20 thousand 442 applications have been received. The minister further said that the recruitment process could not be taken forward due to petitions filed in the High Court against the rules prescribed for appointment.

The Minister of Autonomous Governance was answering the supplementary questions asked by the member in this regard during the Question Hour. He informed that the rules for the recruitment of Safai Karamcharis in the state have been amended from time to time. Rules were made in 2012 for the recruitment of Safai Karamcharis, in which 2 years of experience in Municipal bodies was the qualification. After this, on 11 April 2018, the experience was again amended and one year was made in place of 2 years and provision of 2 children was added. By changing the rules, private institute or personal experience certificate was also recognized in the recruitment.

He said that in the original rules there was a provision for recruitment through examination and interview. Thereafter, on 23 January 2023, provision was made for recruitment through lottery. After that, provision for practical examination was also added on 8 June 2023. Earlier, in a written reply to the original question of MLA Ramniwas Gawadia, the Minister of Autonomous Governance said that the previous government had issued notification number 1/2023, 9 June 2023 and 2/2023 dated 6 October 2023 for the recruitment of sanitation workers.

After withdrawing both these earlier issued notifications and making appropriate amendments, a new notification number 1/2024 was issued on 1 March 2024. In the sequence of this notification, a total of 9 lakh 20 thousand 442 applications have been received for the posts of 24 thousand 797 Safai Karamcharis in various urban bodies of the state, for whose recruitment, the work of making a ‘lottery portal’ through the Department of Information and Technology is in progress. He informed that the said Safai Karamchari recruitment is being done under the Rajasthan Nagar Palika (Safai Karamchari Seva) Rules, 2012 effective in the state and the appropriate amendments made in these rules from time to time. He placed a copy of the rules on the table of the House. He informed that in the said Safai Karamchari recruitment, maximum posts are approved as per the staffing pattern prescribed under the Rajasthan Nagar Palika Act, 2009.
