Patna, 30 November (IANS). BJP state president Dilip Kumar Jaiswal spoke to IANS on Saturday. He said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is going on ‘Mahila Samvad Yatra’.
Dilip Kumar Jaiswal said that since the formation of the government under the leadership of Nitish Kumar in 2005, important steps have been taken for women empowerment, which includes giving reservation to women in local bodies like Panchayati Raj and Municipal Corporations. Today, women play a major role in local governance as heads of panchayats, ward members and municipal councilors. All this is thanks to the efforts of CM Nitish Kumar. The country has appreciated Jeevika Didi’s model. Livelihood scheme is being run under Jeevika Didi. Participation of women in Bihar Police has increased. Girls are leaving home and going to school.
He said that the only objective of this visit of the Chief Minister is to give more respect to women because half of the population also has equal right to live.
The BJP leader said, “CM Nitish Kumar removed the biggest problem of women by imposing liquor ban in Bihar. Before liquor ban, there used to be fights in homes over liquor. Women supported the decision of liquor ban.
On BCCI’s decision of not sending the Indian cricket team to Pakistan for the upcoming Champions Trophy, the BJP state president said that he supports the decision. Whatever sporting event is held anywhere in the world, there should be mutual respect between the countries involved.
Citing security in Pakistan, BCCI has said that Team India will not go to play there.
