It was named Sisodia Rani Bagh, which is a garden and a queen’s palace. It was built by Sawai Jai Singh in 1728. Jaipur’s prince Madho Singh was born in this palace, who became the king of Jaipur in 1750 AD. Due to its beauty, Sisodia Rani Bagh is the first choice of filmmakers for shooting films. Many superhit films have been shot here, including superhit films like Lamhe and Dhadak. Many serials and songs shot in Jaipur have also been shot here. This famous garden is the most favorite destination of North India for photography, history and nature lovers.
Queen Chandrakanwar Sisodia had a special love for nature. She often used to relax in the lap of nature in her free time. Seeing the queen’s special love for nature, King Sawai Jai Singh built this garden, which was named ‘Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh’. This garden is not only a symbol of the love of the king and queen but also of Radha-Krishna.
Apart from lush green trees and flower beds, the beautiful Charbagh style garden here is famous for its multi-level palace, pavilions, temples, murals, scenic spots, paintings and fountains. This garden is visited by foreign tourists and locals throughout the year. The murals painted on the walls of the palace are mainly based on love stories and legends from the life of Lord Krishna and his beloved Radha. Sisodia Rani Bagh, a unique example of Mughal architecture, was built with such artistry that the queen could see every corner of this beautiful garden from her palace.
The architectural layout of Sisodia Rani Bagh is influenced by the Charbagh style of Mughal gardens. The garden is multi-level with flower beds and fountains, which are typical of Mughal gardens. For those who are unaware of the Charbagh garden style, it is said to be a gift of the Mughals. It is a Persian style in which a square garden is divided into four smaller parts by four walkways or running water. This type of garden style is found throughout Western and South Asian countries including Iran and India. The principle of Charbagh garden design is mentioned in the Quran, where Charbagh is described as a garden of paradise.
The shikhara and pavilions of Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh are adorned with Hindu motifs and paintings related to the life of Krishna and are built in Indian architecture. Apart from beautiful murals of Radha and Krishna, hunting scenes are also depicted on the walls of the palace. A great example of the well-planned architecture of this garden is that none of the stairs of this palace are visible and it seems as if someone has hidden the stairs. Sisodia Rani Bagh also has temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman and Lord Vishnu, next to which is an attractive natural waterfall, which flows during the rainy season.
While the entry fee for Indians in Sisodia Rani Bagh is Rs 55 per person, for foreign tourists it is Rs 302 per person. For students studying here, the fee is just Rs 25. Not only this, entry is free for children below 7 years of age.
