Jaipur : Rajasthan Police has fixed SOP for processing the applications of married couples and couples living in close relationships seeking protection. For this, orders have been issued by Additional Director General of Police Civil Rights and AHT Bhupendra Sahu from the Police Headquarters. If a couple is in danger from anyone, then the nodal officer will ensure to provide police protection.

According to the SOP, married couples and couples living in close relationships in the state can apply themselves or through a representative or advocate. If they are threatened by anyone, they will submit a representation for protection to the designated nodal officer in this regard. Also, couples can register complaints on dial 112, women helpline number 1090, state level WhatsApp helpline 8764871150, district level WhatsApp helpline and police control room numbers, email ID of the control room operated at the district level.
Couple will get protection in case of danger
Soon a link will be made available on the police website by SCRB. Through that link, applicants can register their complaints without personally appearing at the police station. The nodal officer will immediately provide interim relief to the victim couple on the complaint. Audio and video recording of the applicant’s statements will be done under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. If there is any kind of threat to them, the police will ensure to provide security. If there are not sufficient grounds to provide security, then clear reasons will be given. Their family members will be called and efforts will be made for mutual understanding.
Nodal officer will take legal action within 7 days
If the couple’s family receives a complaint of harassment by any other person or group, we will ensure their safety and take legal action immediately. If the person concerned needs shelter, we will arrange for their stay in the safe house run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department. Additional Superintendent of Police level officer in the district is the nodal officer, who will take legal action within seven days. If not satisfied with them, a complaint can be lodged with the District SP, who will take appropriate action within 3 days. Range IG and Commissioner will ensure compliance of the standard operating procedure.
