Now cows will not be called stray, Mangala animal insurance scheme started, know what are its benefits

Jaipur : Rajasthan government has taken a big decision regarding cows. In which it has been said that now the word ‘stray’ will not be used for cows in the state. Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Zoraram Kumawat said in the Assembly that the state government is committed to make the cattle farmers economically self-reliant by increasing the development of the valuable animal wealth of the state and livestock production. He said, it is working sensitively for the protection and promotion of cows and bulls. He said that from now on the word ‘niraashrit’ will be used for stray cows. Zoraram Kumawat was responding to the debate on the grant demand of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department (Demand No. 47) in the Assembly on Wednesday. After the discussion, the House passed the grant demands of Rs 15 billion 58 crore 15 lakh 40 thousand of the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department by voice vote.

Constitution of Chief Minister’s Animal Husbandry Development Fund

The Animal Husbandry Minister said that the Chief Minister Animal Husbandry Development Fund will be constituted in the state with a provision of Rs 250 crore. The grant amount of Sex Sorted Semen Scheme will be increased to 75 percent. To expand veterinary facilities in the state, new posts of 125 doctors and 525 livestock assistants will be created. New veterinary sub-centres will be opened in 500 gram panchayats. Also, 100 veterinary sub-centres will be upgraded to veterinary hospitals, 50 veterinary hospitals to first class veterinary hospitals and 25 first class veterinary hospitals to poly clinics.

He said that Mukhyamantri Mangala Pashu Bima Yojana will be started by including other animals along with dairy animals. Animal fairs will be organized in all districts in a phased manner for the convenience of cattle keepers.

Recruitment related to Animal Husbandry Department

Referring to the recruitments in the department, Joraram Kumawat said that the recruitment of 900 veterinary doctors started by the previous government was legally settled by the Supreme Court. Now appointment will be given after getting it legally settled by the High Court as well. After this, a new recruitment process will be started for 619 posts of doctors. He said that the recruitment process has been started in January 2024 for 5934 posts of animal attendants.

Assistance amount to camel herders is now 20 thousand rupees

Kumawat said that under the Ustra Sanrakshan Yojana started by our previous government to promote camels in the state, the assistance given to camel herders has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000. By starting the Gopal Credit Card Scheme in the budget, about 5 lakh cowherd families will be given an interest-free loan of Rs. 1 lakh in the first phase. The Animal Husbandry Minister said that the previous government made a lot of announcements, but did not benefit the cattle herders by implementing them on the ground. He said that the announcement of opening a new veterinary and animal science college in Jodhpur could not be fulfilled. Also, the eight veterinary colleges announced could not be opened. The previous government stopped the emergency ‘102-Mobile Veterinary Service’ with 100 percent support from the Central Government. The present government started 536 vehicles of mobile veterinary unit within 3 months as soon as it came to power. He said that more than one crore cattle owners were registered for animal insurance in inflation relief camps, but only 1064 animals were insured and not a single cattle owner was given a claim.
