Kota : In Sikar, which is on its way to becoming a ‘Cochin Hub’, 2 students have committed suicide in two days. These cases of suicide have not only raised questions on the administration, but have also created many doubts in the minds of the people. Today, from the streets to social media, only one question is being discussed – has Sikar also started following the path of Kota? To bring answers to all such questions to the public, NDTV has investigated at ground zero, after which the administration has also come into action and taken major action in this matter.
Admission on 29th, suicide on 30th
Among the two students who committed suicide, one name is that of Shailesh Saini, who lived in a small village in Karauli, who committed suicide the very next day after taking admission in a school in Sikar. 15-year-old Shailesh Saini was good in studies, that is why his farmer father got him admitted in 10th class away from home with many hopes, so that he could take coaching and prepare for NEET or engineering. After getting him admitted on 29 June, his father went back to Karauli. After this, Shailesh took his own life in the hostel room late at night on 30 June.
He had talked to his family members before committing suicide
Shailesh’s father Halkesh Saini said, ‘Shailesh was the second son in a family of 6 children. Shailesh’s elder brother works as a labourer in Ahmedabad. He had left his child happily. The hostel people had assured that they would take care of him. The warden would visit him two to three times a day. But the police informed them about the child’s death. This is the negligence of the hostel people.’ Shailesh’s elder brother said, ‘We had got Shailesh admitted in Gurukripa Aastha Academy. At that time the staff had told us that we check the child 2-3 times. That is why the fee here was 1.5 lakhs. Shailesh had called us on Sunday evening and it ended at night.’
He hanged himself as soon as he went to his room
The second case of suicide is of Vishal Yadav, who had come to Sikar from Hingonia, Jaipur to prepare for NEET Foundation Course. On 26 June, he took admission in Gurukripa Career Institute to prepare for medical along with his 11th class studies. He had also got a house behind the Aastha Academy of this institute, in which he was living on rent with his younger brother. But on the morning of 1 June, Vishal Yadav went inside telling his younger brother to sleep in the room and committed suicide by hanging himself.
Both are students of Gurukripa Career Institute
Both the deceased students are from Gurukripa Career Institute. No suicide note has been found with either of them. It is believed that both the deceased students did not like the school here, due to which both of them committed suicide. Udyog Nagar police station has kept the bodies of both the deceased in the mortuary of SK Hospital, where the post-mortem of both the bodies will be done only after the arrival of the relatives. At present, the police is busy investigating both the cases.
Guidelines are not being followed in Sikar
In the last few years, Sikar has also started making a name for itself in the coaching business on the lines of Kota. In the last 5 years, more than half a dozen big institutes preparing for NEET and IIT have opened institutes here. There is always pressure in preparing for NEET and medical. Along with the coaching institute, there is also pressure from home on the child so that he can meet the test of success. In such a situation, if the marks are low, the stress increases. It is surprising that the government has not issued any guidelines in Sikar, which is moving towards becoming a coaching hub. Age should be fixed for admission in coaching, admission in coaching only after completing studies and admission should be given only to the student who is interested in medical and engineering. These are some of the guidelines that the central government has issued. But at present, it does not seem to be followed.
Administration came into action after the report
After the suicide incident of two students in the past, the administration has now come into action. The officials have held a meeting to brainstorm on the problems of coaching students, in which many instructions have been given to tighten control over coaching institutes and provide mental security and safety to the students. During the meeting chaired by ADM City Hemraj, a toll free number 01572-251008 has also been issued, through which students will be able to take counseling. Students can call on this number and inform about their complaint, problem, mental stress or depression. The problem or complaint of the students will be resolved immediately. Also, in case of mental stress or depression, counseling will also be done by a psychiatrist or counselor.
