Kota : Now the railway track will be examined with state-of-the-art ultra sound machines. Its work has also started on Delhi-Mumbai railway line. With the new technology, many problems including track fractures (cracks) can be easily detected.
Testing with ultrasound machines will reduce accidents on railway tracks by 80 to 85 percent. This machine is quite updated from the current machine. The three major causes of railway accidents are firstly the mistake of the loco or assistant loco pilot, secondly the fault of the track and thirdly the collision of the train with a hard object on the railway track. If the railways are installing state-of-the-art machines to monitor the tracks, then safety in the railway engines is being improved. Armor systems are also being installed. Recruitment is also being done for the posts of Loco and Assistant Loco Pilot.
Apart from the Delhi-Mumbai railway line, these ultra sound machines are being installed between Delhi-Kolkata, Chennai-Mumbai and Chennai-Kolkata. There is a plan to install this machine on 70 thousand km of railway tracks across the country. Rohit Malviya, C. DCM, Kota Division
indigenous technology
This new machine is made on indigenous technology. Inspection of tracks can be done by running it in manual and motorized manner. It is capable of conducting inspections by moving at a speed of 20 km per hour.
Advanced Non-Destructive Testing Technology
The new machine with multiple beams features advanced non-destructive testing technology. The ultrasonic machine worth about six lakh rupees is kept on tracks and operated. With this, tracks can be examined, quality of welding, rust condition and other defects can be easily detected by estimating the speed and time of sound.
