New Delhi, November 17 (IANS). N in Manipur. The government led by Biren Singh suffered a major setback on Sunday. Expressing its deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, the National People’s Party (NPP) announced withdrawal of support to the government.
NPP National President Conrad K. Sangma met BJP national president J.P. Expressed his disappointment towards Manipur government by writing a letter to Nadda and informed about withdrawal of support with immediate effect.
Sangma wrote in the letter, “The National People’s Party wishes to express its deep concern over the prevailing law and order situation in the state of Manipur. Over the past few days, we have seen the situation deteriorate further, with many more innocent lives lost And the people of the state are going through immense suffering. We strongly feel that the Manipur government under the leadership of Biren Singh has completely failed to resolve the crisis and restore normalcy.”
“Considering the current situation, the National People’s Party has decided to withdraw its support to the Biren Singh-led government in the state of Manipur with immediate effect,” the letter said.
It is noteworthy that the situation in Manipur is not improving. The situation seems to be becoming serious again. Recently the protesters protested against Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s son-in-law and BJP MLA R.K. Imo’s house was attacked. Apart from this, the protesters in Imphal West district also attacked Urban Development Minister Y. The houses of Khemchand and Health Minister Sapam Ranjan were also targeted.
In the 60-member Manipur Assembly, BJP has 32 MLAs and NPP has seven. Therefore, this withdrawal of support will not have any impact on the stability of the government.
