New Delhi, November 19 (IANS). The performance of Indian shooters in the Paris Olympics was excellent and after this mega event, this part of the sport is much talked about. Meanwhile, the newly appointed president of National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) Kalikesh Singh Narayan Dev said that now the time has come that we should make better use of the bench strength and core group of shooters.
Indian shooters have earned 22 quotas for the Olympics 2024 and a 21-member strong contingent has participated. Out of these, 7 shooters reached the finals and three won medals. Shooter Manu Bhaker won a historic double medal.
Speaking on the ‘House of Glory’ podcast, Kalikesh Singh said, “It was a highlight of four years of stellar performances for Indian shooting. It shows that when given a good day, our athletes are capable of delivering world-class performances “
He said, “Now, we have to utilize our bench strength and core group of shooters to ensure that the athletes get better support. We have to ensure that the policies and support of NRAI are there to help them in their journey from junior to senior level.” Let us help you have an easy and comfortable journey to travel.”
India continued its stellar run in the sport by successfully hosting the ISSF Shooting World Cup in New Delhi in October and winning four medals. Which includes two silver and two bronze.
The young Indian topped the medal tally with 24 medals (13 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze) at the ISSF Junior Shooting World Cup in Lima, Peru in October. India has also been given the right to host the Junior World Cup next year by the ISSF.
