Odisha’s big win against Madhya Pradesh

Amritsar, November 21 (IANS). Odisha registered a comfortable win by defeating Madhya Pradesh 6-1 at the GNDU Sports Complex on the first day of the Group F qualifiers of the 78th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy on Thursday.

The winning team had taken a 4-0 lead in the first half itself. After that he maintained his dominance till the end of the match. There are three teams in Group F. The third team is Chhattisgarh.

Odisha scored the first goal in the 11th minute of the match. Striker Roshan Panna scored in the 26th minute, bypassing several defenders and past goalkeeper Salamuddin Khan, and the team took a 2-0 lead.

Two more goals were scored in the first half. Jitu Muduli scored the third goal in the 37th minute and Karthik Hantal scored the fourth goal in the extra time of the first half.

In the second half, Hantal scored again in the 64th minute, while Shubham Mane scored the only goal for Madhya Pradesh. In the final stages, substitute Rahul Mukhi scored for Odisha through a penalty.

Group A (Amritsar): Himachal Pradesh v Jammu and Kashmir (10:30 am); Punjab vs Ladakh (2:30 pm).

Group E (Nalbari, Assam): Nagaland vs Meghalaya (9 am); Arunachal Pradesh vs Assam (2 pm).

Group H (Kozhikode): Railways v Puducherry (7:30 am); Lakshadweep vs Kerala (3:30 pm).
