Jaipur : Sachin Pilot is one of those Congress leaders who are known across the country. He is especially popular among the youth that lakhs of people gather on his name. Due to his expertise in speaking aggressively and frankly, the Congress high command has been sending him as a star campaigner in almost every state. Pilot had a love marriage with a Muslim woman. His love story was also quite famous. While being in Congress, he came into controversies by raising questions on the leaders of his own party, but at the behest of the Congress high command, he is currently calm and active in the party.


Birth, education and marriage of the pilot

Sachin Pilot was born on 7 September 1977 in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. His father Rajesh Pilot was a strong leader of Congress and was very close to the Gandhi family. Pilot has a bachelor’s degree in English literature from St. Stephens College (Delhi University). He also worked in the American multinational corporation General Motors. Later, Pilot studied business from the University of Pennsylvania in the US. During this time, Sachin met Sara, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah. Both became friends. Gradually this friendship turned into love and after three years Sachin and Sara got married. Pilot has a son and a daughter.

Political journey of Sachin Pilot

Sachin Pilot’s father Rajesh Pilot was a Union Minister in the past. He died in a road accident in 2000. His death was a big shock for Pilot. His mother Rama Pilot took care of him. Sachin’s mother Rama Pilot became a Lok Sabha MP on his father’s seat. Later, the Congress high command fielded 26-year-old Sachin Pilot in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. Pilot won his first election by a margin of 1.25 lakh votes. In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Pilot was elected a Lok Sabha MP for the second time. He was also made a Union Minister during the UPA regime. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Pilot had to face defeat during the Modi wave.

Became PCC Chief and then Deputy Chief Minister

In the 2013 assembly elections, Congress suffered a huge defeat in Rajasthan. Congress was reduced to just 21 seats. When the then PCC chief Dr. Chandrabhan resigned from his post, the Congress high command entrusted Sachin Pilot with the responsibility of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president. Pilot struggled for 5 consecutive years. In the 2018 elections, Congress succeeded in coming to power. After coming to power, there was a demand to make Sachin Pilot the Chief Minister, but after the decision of the Congress high command, he had to be content with the post of Deputy Chief Minister. He remained on the post of Deputy Chief Minister for one and a half years.

Pilots came into controversy due to rebellion

Sachin Pilot, who was upset about not being able to become the Chief Minister, lost his patience in July 2020. He rebelled with his supporting MLAs and left Rajasthan and went to Manesar Hotel in Haryana. He stayed there for several days and insisted on meeting the party high command. Ultimately, Pilot’s bet did not succeed and he had to return in August 2020. In April 2023, once again Pilot opened a front against the Chief Minister of his own party and fasted for a day in Jaipur. Pilot alleged that Gehlot is in cahoots with former CM Vasundhara Raje. He took out a Jan Sangharsh Pad Yatra from Ajmer to Jaipur against Gehlot and also warned of a state-wide movement. Despite so much opposition, Pilot could not achieve anything.
