He is soft-spoken and his simple behavior attracts everyone towards him.

Sachin Pilot was born on 7 September 1977 in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh to late Congress leader Rajesh Pilot and Rama Pilot. Very few people know that Sachin Pilot’s ancestral village is not in Rajasthan but Vedpura near Noida. Sachin Pilot did his schooling from Air Force Bal Bharti School in New Delhi and graduation from St. Stephens College, Delhi. After this, he did a post-graduation degree in management from Pennsylvania University in the US and an MBA degree from Wharton School of Pennsylvania University. Sachin Pilot has also worked as an intern in a media institute in Delhi and in the American company General Motors. Pilot wanted to join the Air Force like his father, but the pilot who dreamt of flying planes had weak eyesight due to which his dream remained unfulfilled.

Along with politics, Sachin Pilot has also been in the news for his personal life. Sachin is married to Sara Abdullah, daughter of Kashmir’s veteran leader Farooq Abdullah. Sachin and Sara’s love story has been a topic of discussion all over the country. Sachin met Sara Abdullah while studying abroad and then slowly they became friends, which turned into love with time. Even after Sachin returned to India from abroad after completing his studies, his love for Sara did not diminish. Then both of them decided to tell their families about their love for each other. After which both had to struggle a lot to convince their families for marriage, finally in the year 2004, Sachin and Sara got married to each other, Sara and Sachin have two sons, whose names are Aaran and Vehaan Pilot.

While Sachin Pilot has achieved many great achievements in his political career so far, he contested the 14th Lok Sabha election from Dausa on behalf of Congress and set a record of becoming the youngest MP in India. Sachin Pilot has also served in the Indian Army while being a Union Minister. Sachin Pilot joined the Indian Army on 6 September 2012 and served as a lieutenant. Sachin, with a desire to become a professional pilot, obtained his private pilot license from the US in 1995. Apart from this, Sachin is also an excellent shooter, he has also represented Delhi in many national rifle and pistol shooting championships.

Sachin inherited politics from his father Rajesh Pilot, his father Rajesh Pilot was one of the biggest leaders not only in the state but also in the country, who had also held the responsibility of Minister of State for Home, Minister of Telecommunications and Minister of Surface Transport in the Government of India. Rajesh Pilot was also an MP from Bharatpur and Dausa parliamentary constituencies of Rajasthan. Along with his father, Sachin’s mother Rama Pilot has also been an MLA and MP. Sachin Pilot initially did not want to join politics, but after his father’s death, he entered politics. After which there was a big turn in Pilot’s life and Sachin entered the world of politics at the age of just 26. On 10 February 2002, on the birthday of his father Rajesh Pilot, Sachin started his political journey by joining the Congress.

Two years later in 2004, Sachin Pilot was elected MP from Dausa parliamentary constituency at the age of just 26. During this time, he was also made a member of the Standing Committee of Lok Sabha on Home Affairs. In the year 2006, he also became a member of the Advisory Committee in the Ministry of Civil Aviation. In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Sachin became the MP of Ajmer by defeating BJP candidate Kiran Maheshwari from Ajmer parliamentary constituency. In 2012, Sachin was made the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the country in the Manmohan government. Then in the Modi wave of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Pilot could not save his Ajmer seat and lost the election. This was the first major setback in his political career. After the defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Sachin Pilot became active in Rajasthan politics. After which he was made the state president of Congress before the 2018 assembly elections.

Pilot worked very hard to revive the Congress party in Rajasthan. Before the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections, Pilot travelled about five and a half lakh kilometres to boost the morale of the workers and put the party in competition with the BJP. In such a situation, speculations began that if the Congress government is formed, Sachin Pilot will be the Chief Minister. After the election results, the Congress government was formed, but Pilot, who became an MLA after winning the election from Tonk Assembly, was not made the CM. The Congress high command made Ashok Gehlot the Chief Minister and Pilot had to be content with the post of Deputy Chief Minister.

The differences between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, which started from the 2018 assembly elections, did not end even after the formation of the government. The MLAs in the party were divided into two factions, one of which was with Pilot and the other with Gehlot. Gradually, the gap between the two leaders increased, but the situation changed with the intervention of the Congress high command. Then Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot worked together in the 2023 assembly elections, but the Congress could not cross the majority mark in the state. Currently, Sachin Pilot is an MLA from Tonk assembly constituency of Rajasthan. In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, Sachin Pilot worked hard for the Congress and worked to increase the seats for the party in the state.
