New Delhi, November 29 (IANS). The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday confirmed that India has not received any communication from the US on the recent “legal matters” involving private firms, individuals and the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
“We consider this a legal matter involving private firms and individuals and the US Department of Justice. Obviously, there are established processes and legal pathways in such matters, which we believe are possible,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told reporters during the weekly media briefing. That the Government of India was not informed in advance on this issue.”
He further said, “Due to the misunderstanding by various media (foreign and Indian) of the indictment of the US Department of Justice (DOJ) implicating top executives of one of India’s fastest growing corporate companies on various allegations of dealing There has been wrong and negligent reporting of the incident.”
“We have not had any discussions with the US government on this particular matter,” a State Department spokesperson said.
Responding to another question about any summons in this case to the Indian Mission in the US, Jaiswal said that any request made by a foreign government for service of a summons or arrest warrant is part of mutual legal assistance, But ‘such requests are examined on merit.’
He said, “We have not received any request from the US side in this matter. This is a matter that belongs to a private individual and private entities. The Government of India is not a part of it in any way at this time.”
