According to Xinhua news agency, Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) state police issued a statement saying that the male passenger (40) present in the helicopter was immediately given treatment by ambulance personnel, but he died at the scene. . The helicopter pilot (39) has been admitted to a hospital in Melbourne for treatment.
It is being told that the helicopter pilot had suffered some minor injuries, which is being treated.
Giving information about the accident, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) said that the two men were traveling in an American registered Super Puma helicopter. The plane crashed near the small town of One Tree in New South Wales, about 600 km west of Sydney and 400 km north of Melbourne, around noon local time on Friday.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) said it received the signal from the helicopter at about 10am local time. In response, AMSA dispatched a rescue aircraft and air ambulance helicopter to begin the search.
A local skydiving aircraft assisting in the search located the crash site.
The ill-fated helicopter was traveling approximately 680 kilometers between the New South Wales cities of Broken Hill and Albury at the time of the accident.
