The onion crop is ready by the month of November and gives good profits to the farmers. The onion crop gave a big profit to the farmers last time, after which the farmers started preparing for the onion crop from the month of January. But this time the monsoon rain has increased the concern of the farmers.

Plants damaged due to continuous rain

Farmers of Alwar prepared onion saplings in large numbers and sowed them in many places after the monsoon arrived. It has been raining continuously since a few days after sowing, due to which the onion saplings have been damaged. This has caused a lot of damage to the farmers. Farmers who did not sow are waiting for the rain to stop.

Sowing could not be done due to rain

Alwar’s onions are fully ready in 2 months. Farmers come to the market to sell onions around Diwali. This time onion sowing has been completed only by 30 percent. Farmers are not able to sow more due to rain. Most of the farmers have brought their onion saplings to the market and sold them, so that losses after sowing can be avoided.

It comes in one bigha, cost is 25 to 30 thousand

Farmers say that after the rains have stopped, they are now sowing onions in the fields and we are hoping for good prices. We cultivate onions based on hope. If we get good prices, it will be very beneficial. The cost of cultivating onions in one bigha is 25 to 30 thousand. Farmers from far off places are coming to the market to buy onion saplings. After the rains stopped in Akbarpur area, farmers have started cultivating onions along with their families.
