Opposition to giving Sriganganagar thermal power plant to joint venture

Sriganganagar News Desk: There is opposition these days against giving Kota Thermal Power Plant, including the state’s largest coal-based power generation plant, Suratgarh Super Critical Thermal Power Plant, into joint venture. In Suratgarh also, protests are being held for 1 hour every day at the main gate of Thermal since last 13th November. In this sequence, while copies of the MOU were burnt 3 days ago, on Saturday the effigy of the Joint Venture Model was burnt by the Engineer Employees Joint Struggle Committee. During this, the employees raised slogans under the leadership of BMS, INTUC, PEARS, TEARS, DAWC organizations.

State President of Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Employees Union (RBI), Satish Chamola, said that the existing and new proposed power plants of Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited will be given to newly constructed and newly formed joint ventures of Central Public Sector Undertakings. The process is going on, which they oppose and demand to stop it with immediate effect.

At the same time, Vinod Aadha of the committee said that under the process of joint venture, the staff working in the undertaking are not being taken into confidence. These joint ventures affect the economic and social interests of the people of Rajasthan, production corporation employees, engineers and officers. Therefore a joint struggle committee of employees, officers and engineers opposes all these newly formed joint ventures. The administration has not yet clarified any kind of situation regarding the service conditions of employees, engineers and officers, due to which the already existing situation of fear and confusion in this class has increased.
