Opposition’s allegation of mismanagement during Dana storm is wrong, government left no stone unturned: Ashok Mohanty

Bhubaneswar, December 4 (IANS). In the ongoing assembly session in Odisha, opposition parties accused the government of mismanagement during cyclone Dana. BJP leader Ashok Mohanty rejected this and enumerated the work done by the state government.

Ashok Mohanty said that a total of six thousand people were evacuated from the storm-hit area. Along with this, two thousand pregnant women were also evacuated. All the cattle herders and animals were evacuated. The government ensured that no one was stranded in the area. Those who say that the cyclone was not managed are wrong.

He told IANS, “The best management of any cyclone in the history of Odisha was done by this government during Cyclone Dana. Before this there were Fani or many other storms. All the ministers of the country, the Prime Minister and the ministers of all the states are aware of the damage caused by Cyclone Dana.” At least a meeting was held in the Parliament House.”

He said, “The ministers sat from the strong room and did all the monitoring after the storm arrived and after it went away. In the 13 districts where cyclone Dana hit, one minister was appointed for each district i.e. a total of 13 ministers. The Chief Minister himself sat and All the MLAs were deployed to combat the cyclone. A total of six thousand people were evacuated from the storm-hit area.

He said, “Along with this, two thousand pregnant women were also evacuated. All the cow herders and animals were evacuated. The government ensured that no one got trapped in the area. The government took steps to minimize the damage and minimize harm to the people.” Yes, every effort was made to ensure that no one was allowed to suffer any major loss.
