Jaipur : The Cabinet sub-committee formed to review the new districts formed during the previous Congress government can submit its report to the state government by the end of this month. Sources associated with the committee have also indicated this. It is being told that the brainstorming regarding 17 new districts is almost complete.
Now there will be another meeting of the committee in which the report will be finalized and after that the report will be submitted to the government. Although the committee meeting has not been held due to the by-elections being held on seven seats in the state, the meeting will be held after the by-elections are over. Earlier, the last meeting of the committee was held on September 18 in coordination with Minister Madan Dilawar.
Julie had also raised questions on the intentions of the government
At the same time, Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie had also raised questions on the intentions of the state government regarding the review of new districts. Julie had demanded calling a special session of the assembly for this.
Crisis on small districts
If seen, Dudu, Sanchaur, Gangapur City, Shahpura and Kekri are small districts. If sources are to be believed, the committee may recommend eliminating or merging small districts. Earlier, the committee had also raised questions on small districts and said that if the area of one assembly constituency is made a district, then 200 districts will have to be made.
Dilawar was made the coordinator in place of Bairava
Interestingly, earlier MLA from Dudu and Deputy CM Prem Chandra Bairwa was made the convenor of the committee, but the committee has to decide whether to retain Dudu as a district or abolish it. It is being said that there is a threat to Dudu’s survival as a district. Meanwhile, the state government made Madan Dilawar the coordinator of the committee in place of Bairava.
There was protest in these districts
Amidst the fear of crisis in smaller districts, protests and agitations also took place in Dudu, Sanchore, Gangapur City, Shahpura and Kekri in the month of September. In Sanchore, former Congress minister Sukhram Vishnoi sat on hunger strike, while in Gangapur City, Congress MLA and Deputy Leader in the Assembly Ramkesh Meena sat on strike outside the Collectorate. In Kekri and Shahpura, along with social organizations, workers of many political parties also protested and demanded from the Chief Minister to keep the districts as they were.
