Ajmer : A petition has been filed in the court demanding to declare the Dargah of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, Rajasthan as Lord Shri Sankatmochan Mahadev Temple. Now AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi’s reaction has come on this. He has posted on the social media site ‘X’ that a case is now going on against the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer, in which it has been claimed that it is a temple. Asaduddin Owaisi further wrote in the post, “Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti remains the guiding light for Indian Muslims, his Dargah is undoubtedly one of the most visited spiritual places for Muslims.” He asked Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on calling Ajmer Sharif Dargah a temple, what is the stand of the Minority Ministry on this issue?
Owaisi asked these questions to Kiren Rijiju
The AIMIM president said, “Will you support the Dargah Khawaja Sahib Act of 1955 and the Places of Worship Act of 1991? Will you enforce these laws? A ‘public servant’ under the 1955 Act praised the Modi government’s Waqf Bill. What is their stand on this case? Will the Waqf Bill make our places of worship vulnerable to encroachment and desecration?
What is the whole matter?
Let us tell you that Hindu Sena President Vishnu Gupta, through his lawyer, had filed a petition in the civil judge’s court demanding declaration of the Dargah as a temple. Gupta, through his lawyer, had claimed that this dargah has been built on the ruins of the temple and hence it should be declared as Lord Shri Sankatmochan Mahadev Temple. The petition also demands that the Act under which the Dargah operates be declared invalid, Hindus be given the right to worship and the Archaeological Survey of India be directed to conduct a scientific survey of the site. Vishnu Gupta’s lawyer Shashiranjan said that the plaintiff has done research for two years and his findings are that there was a Shiva temple there which was destroyed by ‘Muslim invaders’ and then a dargah was built. He said that the civil judge’s court has refused to hear the case and said that it is beyond its jurisdiction. The next hearing of the case will be held on October 10.
