Pali : Pali It is often seen that disabled people face a lot of difficulty in wearing normal clothes due to physical disability. When this matter came to the notice of Swavalamban Foundation in a survey conducted across the country, then to provide relief to the disabled, they organized a competition to design clothes as per their convenience. In which one thousand fashion designers from across the country were invited. Where clothes designed according to the needs of the disabled will be displayed. Which will be inspected by experts. And the selected fashion designer will also be honored.
Swavalamban Foundation, dedicated to the rights and upliftment of persons with disabilities and persons affected by rare diseases, is organizing “InclusiFit: Accessible Clothing Design Competition” with an aim to promote inclusive fashion. The main objective of this competition is to design suitable and accessible clothing for persons with progressive disabilities, rare diseases, and wheelchair users that provide comfort and self-reliance, keeping in mind their varying physical and mental needs.
One thousand fashion designers were invited
The objective of this initiative of Swavalamban Foundation is to create such fashion designs, which can make the lifestyle of the disabled people easy, comfortable and confident, keeping in mind the special needs of them. More than 1000 fashion designing students from across the country are invited to participate in the competition. And professional fashion designers have been invited. In the final stage of the competition, the selected participants will showcase the garments designed by them, which will be evaluated by experts. The last date to register to participate in this competition is 30th December 2024.
Contest Features
– While presenting the design, special attention will be given to ease of use, comfort and aesthetics.
– Participants can submit their entries in digital format.
– Winners will be awarded certificates and cash prizes.
Survey based on problems of disabled people
The survey was conducted independently by Dr. Vaibhav Bhandari, head of Swavalamban Foundation, in which 210 patients from 18 states across the country gave their responses. The survey revealed that individuals affected by progressive disabilities, such as muscular dystrophy, face many difficulties in wearing clothes. Problems arise.
Sayoni Soni, Program Coordinator, Foundation, said, “Fashion is not just a medium of appearance, but it is also a symbol of comfort and self-esteem. Our initiative ‘InclusiFit’ aims to ensure that people affected by progressive disabilities and rare diseases also have access to fashion. And get equal right to rest.” Purva Mittal of Delhi, Manisha Vaidya of Gujarat, and Nandini Nag of Himachal are busy in its preparation.
This came out in the survey
– 70.5% patients have difficulty in moving hands or legs while wearing clothes.
– 55.8% patients are unable to dress independently.
– 75.2% patients require help from others to wear clothes.
– 62% of patients are deprived of many of their favorite activities due to difficulty in getting dressed.
– 95.3% patients are interested in trying easy-to-wear clothing.
