Bikaner : Jhabar Singh Kharra, Minister of UDH Department in Rajasthan Government, on Thursday gave a big statement regarding the upcoming civic elections in Bikaner. He said, ‘In view of the civic elections, the state government is seriously considering One State One Election. There is no need for much thinking for this, because it is in the interest of the state.
‘Sarpanch elections will be held through ballot paper’
Minister of State Kharra clarified that if elections to civic bodies are held simultaneously in Rajasthan, there will be no need to buy EVMs. Because EVMs can be procured from states where elections have been held. Kharra said that the elections of Sarpanch and Ward Panch will be held through ballot paper only. Because their entire election process is completed quickly. But elections for councilors, Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be held through EVMs.
‘Danger of horse trading in direct election of mayor’
Regarding direct election of Municipal Corporation Mayor, Jhabar Singh Kharra says that the government has not decided anything in this regard yet. The government is seriously considering this issue also. Personally, he believes that there is a risk of horse-trading if the mayor is elected indirectly. In such a situation, some way can be found which is accessible to all. He indicated that civic elections could be held next year.
Minister’s reply on cancellation of appointments in 2 hours
When asked about the notification of Bikaner Development Authority BDA, the Minister said that now is the time for by-elections. After the by-election, the notification of Development Authority i.e. BDA for Bikaner will be issued. It will take one and a half to two years for BDA to come into its full form. A day earlier, when political appointments were made in UDH and they were immediately cancelled, he said that this happened due to the mistake of officers and employees. Some names were typed by mistake, including the names of bodies. The list was withdrawn to correct those flaws.
