But a surprising case has come to light from Jodhpur district of Rajasthan. Here a girl got divorce after almost 20 years of marriage. This girl got married when she was only four months old.
Family court judge gave historic decision
Judge Varun Talwar of Jodhpur’s Family Court No. 2 has given a historic decision by canceling the child marriage of the girl. Apart from this, an order has also been issued regarding the family of the boy with whom she was married to pay the expenses of the case to the girl.
In-laws were threatening the girl
Anita, a resident of rural area of Jodhpur, was married as a child at the age of 4 months. For the last several years, her in-laws were pressurizing her to call her to her in-laws house. Many times he was also threatened. In this regard, a case was filed in the Family Court 2 of Jodhpur by Sarathi Trust of Jodhpur to cancel the child marriage of Anita.
Child marriage is not a vice but a crime
After this, now the court has taken a decision in this regard and child marriage has been cancelled. In the case, Judge Varun Talwar says that child marriage is not only a vice but a crime. The future of children gets spoiled. If the girl or boy does not want to continue the child marriage, they have the right to get the child marriage cancelled.
Child marriages take place on Akshaya Tritiya in Rajasthan
Even though the government still talks about controlling child marriage in Rajasthan, child marriages still take place on many occasions in Rajasthan like Akshaya Tritiya.
