Jaipur : Pension of hundreds of pensioners in the state has been stopped. Such people receiving social security pension were declared dead on paper. The pension of many such affected people was stopped in the previous government, which could not be started till 28 months later. There are many hundreds of people whose pension was stopped under the present government. This big mess is now being exposed.
Most of the affected are elderly
Initial investigation conducted in Ajmer, Beawar and Rajsamand districts revealed a large number of such affected people. Investigation is yet to be done in the remaining 47 districts of the state. What is also serious is that even in the cases which the field officers came to know about, they kept getting stuck in the name of verification. Most of the affected are elderly, who are dependent on someone or the other. Difficulties have increased due to non-receipt of pension amount in the account. Social organization workers are also working in this regard. 90 lakh people in the state are connected to the Social Security Pension Scheme.
When the matter was investigated, layers were revealed.
In the state, elderly pensioners, single women, disabled people, farmers and old people are struggling to prove their existence. The government system stopped the pension of hundreds of such people by declaring them dead, while they are alive and safe. When the cases that came to light were investigated, this shocking revelation came to light. Far from getting pension, many of the affected people are having to work hard to prove themselves alive.

An elderly woman resident of Dhoti in Bhim tehsil of Rajsamand is not getting pension since January last year. No husband and children. At this stage of age, Mena Devi’s relatives informed the concerned Development Officer and Sub-Divisional Officer several times, but were not successful in getting the pension started. Aadhaar card linking process cannot be done as there is no Jan Aadhar card and no mobile.

Pension will stop from January 2023. Due to lack of verification, he was put in the dead category. Whereas, BDO had information that Daru Singh is alive. Despite being old, he kept making rounds, but the hearing took place some time ago. Had to issue second PPO number but have to make rounds for outstanding pension.

Dhapu Devi, resident of Kaladeh, has been waiting for pension for the last 28 months. His grandson Santosh has even made rounds of the Collector’s office. They were shocked to find out that deceased was in the list. Then they started making Aadhar and Janadhar cards, but it was not made. Complaint was also lodged but there was no solution.

When the pension was stopped because he was declared dead in the document, he was shocked. When his brother’s family members found out, after re-verification, their names were put in the deceased category. Bhuraram is a single man and due to lack of pension, his brother’s family is completely dependent on him. Have applied for pension afresh.

He is a resident of Dhorela and is waiting for pension from January 2023. When grandson Dinesh Prajapat came to know the reason for stoppage of pension, he scolded the officers. Now thumb impressions are not being scanned properly. Have applied for new PPO. He was getting pension since April 2013.

Dakhu Devi, resident of Sunarkudi, Bhima, still cannot believe that he was declared dead. Not much of a concern because of his age, but the system did not understand his need. The first pension started in May, 2000, but now the money is waiting in the account for 21 months. Now the proceedings are stuck afresh due to non-availability of thumb impression.

His name was removed from the Janadhar portal itself and he was considered dead. His daughter-in-law Bhanwari Devi told how any person can be declared dead. How can pension be stopped? Pension was last received in December 2022.

Take action so that such a situation does not happen
The deprived class is waiting for pension. Action should also be taken against those who deprive them of their rights so that such a situation does not arise in future.
If the pension is stopped by mistake or if it seems that wrong verification was done, then only they have the right to re-open it. Will not let any eligible pensioner face problems. After starting their pension, the outstanding pension amount will also be given.
