Jaipur : New applications can be made till September 19 under the Free Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme 2024-25 by the Devasthan Department. This year, 30 thousand elderly people will be taken by train to 15 religious places and six thousand elderly people will be taken to Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu by plane by the department. The application process has started on the department’s website from Wednesday. The special thing is that the elderly will be able to choose the pilgrimage site as per their wish. However, there will be an opportunity to travel to only one of these places. Such elderly people above 60 years of age, who are natives of Rajasthan and are not income tax payers, will be able to apply.

The pilgrimage includes Rameswaram- Madurai, Jagannathpuri-Tirupati, Dwarkapuri-Somnath, Vaishnodevi-Amritsar, Prayagraj-Varanasi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Samedshikhar-Pawapuri, Ujjain- Omkareshwar, Gangasagar-Kolkata, Kamaya-Guwahati, Haridwar-Rishikesh and other pilgrimage places. Apart from these, Ram temple in Ayodhya, Vaidyanath Mahadesh Jyotirlinga (Jharkhand), Tyambakeshwar Jyotirlinga (Nashik), Shravanabelagola (Karnataka) have been included.
Will include old applications as well
Out of the applications received in the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme in the year 2022, apart from the passengers who went on the journey in the year 2023-24, the remaining passengers will be eligible for the journey this year. They do not need to apply afresh. Information about the rules has been given on the departmental website and application can be made from the same. Soon the schedule of trains for the journey will also be shared after the completion of the MoU.
