Bikaner : Bikaner is going to be the first city in Rajasthan where women will get the services of pink bus. Efforts have been intensified to start this bus service in the city in the month of October. These buses will be deployed at four different places in the city where there will be no toilet facility. Buses equipped with many other facilities are being prepared by the Municipal Corporation at a cost of Rs 84 lakh.
Rajasthan’s first unique project
Mayor Sushila Kanwar said that many facilities including sanitary pads, dressing room and vending machine will be made available for women in these buses. Women will be able to use the toilet for free, but they will have to pay a minimum charge for other facilities. She said that the Pink Bus Mahila Shauchalay, dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission and women empowerment, is the first unique project not only of Bikaner city but also of Rajasthan. As a woman mayor, taking steps towards women’s safety and cleanliness has always been my priority. Pink buses will be available for the convenience of women in main markets and main places (where women’s toilets are not available, or there is no space for construction).
Citizens are welcomed all over the city
It is worth noting that toilets for women are not usually available in public places and in Bikaner, there is no provision of toilets for women in any market. In such a situation, women visiting the market have to face a lot of problems. Usually, toilets are built in malls, but they are for gents and their condition is very bad due to dirt. Apart from this, they are not able to go to those toilets due to shame and security reasons. Now, after the start of this project, women coming to the markets for shopping will not face such problems. This initiative taken by Municipal Corporation Mayor Sushila Kanwar Rajpurohit has been welcomed in the entire city.
