Bhubaneswar, 30 November (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed in detail various issues related to policing and national security on the second day of the 59th DG-IG conference with all the top police officers of the country here on Saturday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“First day at DGP/IGP conference in Bhubaneswar was very successful. Discussed various topics on policing and security,” the Prime Minister wrote on Twitter. He also shared pictures of the meeting.
Prime Minister Modi participated in the three-day DGP conference on Saturday. It was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah on 29 November.
In the meeting, chiefs of police forces of all states and other central security agencies are deliberating on various aspects with a view to prepare a roadmap to counter the existing and emerging national security challenges. These challenges include left-wing extremism, coastal security, narcotics, cyber crime and economic security.
According to reports, the delegates will also review progress in the implementation of new criminal laws and initiatives, and best practices in policing in their respective states.
Earlier, while inaugurating the program on Friday, the Home Minister underlined the role of the security establishment in realizing PM Modi’s dream of ‘Developed India’ by the year 2047 and becoming the third largest economy by the year 2027.
The Home Minister also stressed on focusing on emerging security challenges on the eastern border, migration and trends in urban policing.
He also called for Zero Tolerance Strategy Plan and Zero Tolerance Action Initiative to implement the Zero Tolerance Policy.
Home Minister Shah further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India is preparing its police force as a mechanism capable of protecting the nation against the challenges of the new era and addressing the root causes of crime and terrorism. .
He said that the DG-IG conference serves as a platform to share information and experiences to strengthen the policing system in every state through collaboration.
