New Delhi, December 2 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation the successful implementation of three new criminal laws ‘Indian Judicial Code’, ‘Indian Civil Defense Code’ and ‘Indian Evidence Act’ on December 3 in Chandigarh.
These three new criminal laws were implemented in the country on July 1, 2024. Their objective is to make the justice system of the country more transparent, efficient and compatible with the needs of the contemporary society.
These criminal laws were conceptualized on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and were aimed at removing colonial-era laws that were in place years after independence. This has been done to change the judicial system by focusing on justice rather than punishment.
The theme of the event, organized at Punjab Engineering College (PEC) at 12 noon, is “Safe Society, Developed India from Punishment to Justice”. More than five thousand people are expected to participate in it. Strict security arrangements have been made in view of the arrival of Prime Minister Modi.
It is noteworthy that Chandigarh has been chosen to host the Prime Minister’s program on full implementation of the three new criminal laws because the city is ahead of other states and union territories in ensuring full compliance with the new laws.
The historic reforms in criminal laws mark a comprehensive transformation of India’s justice system to address modern challenges such as cyber crime.
The program will showcase the practical application of these laws, showing how they are already reshaping the criminal justice landscape.
There will also be a live demonstration simulating a crime scene investigation where the new laws will be put into practice.
