Jaipur : Jaipur Police has safely rescued an 11-month-old child who was kidnapped from Sanganer Sadar area 14 months ago. Kidnapper Tanuj Chahar, who was the child’s mother’s maternal uncle’s son, is posted as a head constable in UP Police. The police has arrested the accused. Tanuj Chahar had kidnapped the child and was absconding in the streets of Vrindavan disguised as a sadhu. He used to grow beard and moustache and become a sadhu, keep the child in a hut and do parikrama. Jaipur Police also made a plan to reach Tanuj by disguising as a sadhu and arrested him.
The accused knew the child’s mother
Jaipur South Deputy Commissioner of Police Digant Anand said that on June 14, 2023, information was received about the kidnapping of 11-month-old child Kuku alias Prithvi in Sanganer Sadar area. The accused Tanuj Chahar knew the child’s mother and along with his four-five companions kidnapped the child.
A reward of 25 thousand rupees has been announced
Considering the seriousness of the incident, he was searched in Aligarh and other states, but he was also absent from his duty, due to which he was suspended. Finally, the police announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on him.
The accused was living as a sadhu in Vrindavan
Police received information that Tanuj was living in a hut somewhere on the Parikrama Marg of Vrindavan and the Khadar area of Yamuna as a sadhu. Police also started looking for him in the guise of a sadhu. Tanuj got a hint and ran away into the fields with the child in his lap. On August 27, police chased Tanuj Chahar in the fields and caught him from Surir police station area and brought the child safely to Jaipur.
He wants to keep the child’s mother with him
During police interrogation, it was revealed that Tanuj wanted to keep the child and his mother with him and when his attempt failed, he opted for kidnapping. He also made repeated calls to threaten the mother. However, despite his persistence and precautions, Tanuj could not escape from the police and was arrested.
