Police took major action amid the by-elections, illegal liquor worth thirty lakhs found among potato bushes in Rajasthan.

Nagaur News Desk: Due to the code of conduct imposed on the assembly by-election, a truck full of liquor could not escape the sharp vigil of the police on Friday. Khinvsar police station along with DST have recovered illicit liquor worth about Rs 30 lakh and arrested one person. The liquor was being taken from Punjab to Gujarat by hiding it among the potato stalks. Earlier in October last year, the District Special Team (DST) along with the Sadar police station had seized liquor worth about Rs 50 lakh.

Nagaur CO Rampratap Vishnoi said that due to the by-elections, illegal liquor is being stopped. Information was received from the informer that illegal liquor/beer was coming in a truck. On this, Khinvsar police station in-charge Ram Narayan Bhanwaria and DST in-charge Swagat Pandya started the blockade with their team.

DST constables Suresh, Nemichand Khileri, Dharmi Meena etc. took over the blockade. When we started checking the trucks, the driver of one truck got down and started running away. He was caught on this. When the truck was searched, 449 cartons of English liquor and beer were recovered among the carts filled with potatoes. This liquor worth about thirty lakhs was going from Punjab to Gujarat. Police have arrested Ghodaran, resident of Hemaram Jat. The investigation of the case has been handed over to Panchauri police station in-charge.
