Potato crop ruined due to fake medicine, farmers worried

Kannauj, December 10 (IANS). Farmers in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh have claimed that their potato crops were ruined due to fake medicine. He has also appealed to the authorities to take action against drug sellers.

Farmer Jabbar told that he had brought the claim from Naushad’s shop to sow it in the potato crop. He gave old and fake medicine due to which the crop has not grown.

He said, “They brought fake medicine from Gursahaiganj and gave it to us. Due to which our potato crop of nine bighas was ruined. We have also complained to the shopkeeper, but he ignored us. From plowing to planting, we had to spend two lakh rupees.” The expense was incurred.”

Jabbar, a resident of Inayatpur, said that his crop has been completely damaged due to fake medicines. Other people of the village are also troubled by this.

Farmer Bahar told that he had also brought medicine from Naushad’s shop. He was given fake medicine. He told that instead of Rs 4,500 per liter, he gave the medicine at Rs 900 per liter and claimed that the crop would be good. But we have suffered huge losses. The entire crop was ruined. Kajal has his shop in front of Cold Store in Katra. He told that other farmers had applied medicine worth Rs 5,000 per liter which has improved their crops.

Another farmer told that when the crop had weak seedlings, he bought crop protection medicine from a nearby shopkeeper to protect the crop from disease and got it sprayed in the field. When he reached the field the next day after spraying the medicine, the vine and seeds had completely rotted and mixed into the soil.

Farmers, dejected due to their hard work being wasted, are unable to understand what to do now. He has appealed to the top officials to take action against the shopkeeper.
